Services Offered

A tailor made support package will be developed to meet individual needs.  The range of services that are available include but are not limited to:

personal care, including bathing, showering or personal hygiene, toileting, and dressing or undressing

mobility, including transferring

specialised nursing care, including dressings and urine tests, subject to legal restrictions on providing the treatment and only in very special circumstances

administration of medication prescribed by a medical practitioner subject to legal restrictions on providing the medication

rehabilitative support, or helping to get access to rehabilitative support, to meet professionally determined therapeutic need

domestic assistance, including house work, laundry, shopping, errands and bill paying

meal preparation, including special diets and assistance with eating

home maintenance and gardening including modification, reasonably required to maintain the home and garden in a condition of functional safety

transport (included supported transport) to help the person shop, visit a medical practitioner or attend social activities

temporary respite care in the home

assistance with child care, including collecting children from school

social and emotional support including assistance to maintain personal affairs and arranging social activities and other out-of-home services that help prevent social isolation.

In addition to these direct services, clients of the VIVA Packs are entitled to:

exclusive telephone access to an oncology nurse to gain advice and support regarding their treatment and symptoms of treatment

support to access a web-based, Viva Wellness Program

mutual support programs that will link people to other people in their local area who are living with cancer

Every client will also receive a special Viva Wellness Kit when their package begins.  This Kit has been assembled by volunteers, many of whom have had an experience with cancer. The Kit also provides some useful information.
