Supporting Country People since 1955
Can Assist is committed to ensuring that all people, regardless of where they live, have access to cancer treatment and care. By providing accommodation, financial assistance and practical support to people from rural and regional areas, we ensure that country people are given the same opportunities and treatment choices as those who live in city centres.
John Colvin - The Importance of the Branch Network
Can Assist understands the financial burden a cancer diagnosis puts on families and individuals. Find out how we can help you:
"Being a member of our local Can Assist branch gives me the opportunity to meet and greet so many people who have been affected by cancer. Our fund raising is ongoing to give most valued assistance to our local residents who are cancer suffers. It is so rewarding." - Noela Williams, Lithgow
Due to travel and accommodation expenses, it can easily cost a country family affected by cancer up to five times more than a city family just to access treatment. The reality is that many country mums and dads simply can’t afford treatment, let alone the weeks spent away from their family and work.
- Richard Lamb, Mudgee
